AI has become a vital and important part of human existence in the age of big data, with various machines being able to swiftly and precisely detect diverse items. This is a source of inspiration for my project, which involves examining myself through my surroundings, space, objects and body parts, and extends from self- identity exploration to self-identity construction.
The project is a self-examination in which I stretch my living space outwards into a dot, examining the impact of space in various surroundings on my identity and establishing a sense of self-belonging. By reflecting on my connection to space using reflective objects such as mirrors and windows, I marginalise myself throughout the space, obscure my face and body, blur my identity, reveal parts of my body as clues to blend in with the environment, turn parts of my body into a symbol and act as a tag to constantly strengthen my identity and explore the possibilities of my identity. My emotions steadily change as I integrate myself into a framework, which is my surroundings, from bewilderment and insubstantiality to a gradual calming down.
The selfie is utilised in this project to capture myself and the surroundings in which I presently live, allowing me to investigate my identity and explore my sense of belonging through a deeper understanding of space, identity, and memory. This project will continue to evolve as I pursue and develop my identity, which changes with the space of my environment. My present presence will one day evaporate when I go, so what I'm doing now is photographing my living areas and objects in order to preserve my fragile presence.
